Celebrate Being Single While it Lasts.

Yes, you may have to suffer through all of your relatives lining up to ask you at each and every family function when it will be your turn to enter into wedded bliss. But if you are happily single, the benefits of batching it can far outweigh any negatives. It’s time to take a step back and appreciate all that makes single living so great while it lasts.

Being Single Means Not Having to Say You’re Sorry

When you live alone, you don’t report to or check in with anyone. You can come and go as you please. Working late? No problem! You go ahead and work your tail off for that promotion. No one is going to be disappointed that they aren’t getting enough of your time. Schedule activities that you want to do without having to check in to see if you are, free at that time. There is no need to worry that someone else has booked something for you.

Being single means that you can have friends of the opposite sex with no jealousy and better yet, no apologies! There’s no drama about whose friends or family you are going to spend time with. Choose who you want to spend time with, male or female, on your terms, and not someone else’s. And best of all, no in-laws!

No anniversaries, clothing sizes or favorite foods to remember. Living the single life means you don’t have to apologize for forgetting an obscure anniversary or buy gifts for anyone unless you want to.

Single Life Means Total Control

You answer to no one. Do things at home the way you want them done. No bickering over which way the toilet paper should unroll and the toilet seat stays the way you left it. If your clothes don’t quite make the laundry hamper, no one is going to call you on it. You can eat the same thing every day for a week if you want. If you like things neat, you don’t have to worry about someone else making a mess, and if you are a little relaxed about cleaning, there is no one to nag you about it.

Singlehood also means that you have sole custody of the television remote. You watch what you want, when you want and if you want to flip mindlessly through channels, more power to you because there is no one to tell you to stop.

The number one thing that couples fight about is finances. While your married friends and family are squabbling over how their money should be spent, you can be blissfully secure in the knowledge that your finances are yours and yours alone to spend, save or fritter away as you so desire.

So the next time you find yourself thinking about not having a man of your own, just remember the great things about being single. Because that will all change, for better or for worse, when you find yourself in your next relationship.
