To be or not to be picky?

He should be rich, charming, tall, handsome, sensitive, and fun to be with. He should be a hardworking guy but also a potential family man in the future. But he should also have time to be physically active and have a really nice beach body.

How many girls have uttered this same line when describing their type of man? Here’s a deal breaker for women—no such guy exists. This is because most women may have an ideal image in their minds, and no matter how many guys they encounter that come close to that description, they still fall short.

It’s the same with guys—we have our own standards and most of the time, they are unreasonably high. So we understand that when it comes to the proverbial Mr. Right, it’s natural that women to set high standards.

So if you’re wondering if it’s better to be picky or be easily content, the answer is a tricky compromise. Yes, being choosy with your partner is understandable. You’ll be in a relationship, and if you don’t like the guy, it would be hard for you to stay together for a long time.

But don’t forget one important detail—being picky means knowing what you want. The most common mistake that women make is to be choosy without a basis. One minute they like a dependable and stable guy, but the next, a bad boy with a dangerous appeal would seem attractive.

On the other hand, your ideal guy’s image should also be realistic. Look back at the start of this piece. Does it really refer to actual men or those imaginary and idealistic ones that only exist in romance novels?

Remember, being in a relationship also means accepting your partner, even the qualities that you didn’t want at the beginning.
